Error message

Notice: unserialize(): Error at offset 5863 of 11211 bytes in variable_initialize() (line 1255 of /mnt/www/html/oxforddev/docroot/includes/bootstrap.inc).

RSS and OxTalks content can be displayed using the listing widgets.

To display feed content in a listing widget:

  1. Create a feed item — see below for creating items for each feed type
  2. Setup a listing widget to display the feed content

  1. Go to Manage Content > Feeds screen

  2. Click 'Create new feed'
  3. Give the feed a title for you to identify it later when you setup the listing widget
  4. Under 'Feed type', select 'RSS'

  5. Under 'Feed URL' enter the URL of the RSS feed. This must be the full URL, including 'https://'
    Tip: RSS feed URLs can usually be found by running an internet search for the content provider and the term "RSS feed"
  6. Click 'Save'

Next, setup a listing widget to display the feed content.

The OxTalks feed feature needs to be enabled for your site first

Contact the Mosaic team to ask for OxTalks feeds to be enabled on your site

 
  1. Go to Manage Content > Feeds screen

  2. Click 'Create new feed'
  3. Give the feed a title for you to identify it later when you setup the listing widget
  4. Under 'Feed type', select 'OxTalks'
  5. Under 'Scope' choose from:
    • All Talks.
    • Series. If selected, provide the name of the Talks Series
    • Collection. If selected, provide the ID of the Talks Collection. You can get this from its public URL, e.g. https://talks.ox.ac.uk/user/lists/id/5f9cd208-08f8-45c2-a088-19bbd49d9586/ (ID in bold)
  6. Set a 'from date' to filter the Talks by
  7. (Optionally) set a 'to date' to filter the Talks by
  8. (Optionally) type the name of a Venue to only show talks for that location
  9. (Optionally) type the name of an Organising department to only show talks associated with that department

Next, setup a listing widget to display the feed content.

To display feed content in a listing widget:

  1. Open the editing options for the widget
  2. Under 'Content source' select 'Feed' Screenshot of feed source menu in list widget
  3. From the 'Feed source' dropdown list, select the title of the feed item you want to use
  4. In the widget's 'Layout options' choose the item style for the listing items (see table below for item styles available for each feed type) and other display options

    *There can be large variations in the quality and amount of information sent via RSS feeds. Mosaic will make a best efforts attempt at fitting images and content it receives into item styles.
